INSTALLATION GUIDE
Not all concrete sleepers are built the same. So before you choose your concrete sleepers read these 5 tips:
-
Always ask for engineering drawings. Not all concrete sleepers are manufactured to be structural, we have even seen and replaced walls built with sleepers with no re-enforcement bars! So before you choose your next concrete sleeper make sure engineering is available from the supplier.

-
Purchase from a supplier who will stand behind the quality of their product. Not all concrete sleepers are made the same. There are a lot of “backyard” manufacturers who sacrifice quality for a reduced price. Ask yourself if it’s that cheap “what’s missing?” At Australian Concrete Sleepers we stand behind our products, if there are any issues with the quality of the sleepers we will take care of it for you.

-
Hire a Professional Installer who has done this many times before. The installation of a concrete sleeper wall looks simple but requires very careful attention to detail. Ask your installer to supply you with addresses of their previous work.

-
A common mistake is to engage an manufacturer before choosing the sleeper. We see a lot of customers who can’t get their preferred choice of concrete sleepers because the manufacturer might have selected a sleeper length that limits the options and styles available. So always choose your preferred concrete sleeper design and then have your engineer design your wall.

Little finishing touches that will make all the difference. When building the wall, plan where your step downs will occur. Will you use caps on the steel uprights? Or perhaps a cover plate to hide them all together for a great finish. All these things should be taken into consideration when planning for your retaining wall. Also always make sure that if any sleepers are cut to size onsite they have to be properly treated before installation.
